New Character: Enide

Name: Enide

Description: She is just a ghost of her former self. She can’t remember anything about her past. She is naturally cautious. Paranormal things seem to follow her, and she does not necessarily realize these things aren’t normal. She is not necessarily good, but she also isn’t necessarily bad. She does what she feels like, when she feels like it. More often than not, though, she just exists.

The house was filled with the smell of a cinnamon candle. How does that candle manage to fill the entire house? she asked herself as she descended the stairs. Something about the house today drew her attention, but the girl couldn’t remember what was different from the last time she had been there. Her eye was caught by the arc of sunlight coming in the great window of the entryway, the amber warmth radiating into the house, leaving a welcoming impression. When was the last time I’ve seen so much light?

She turned the corner and found herself in the kitchen. A tall woman with auburn hair pulled back into a tight bun toiled over the island, covered up to the elbows in baking flour. The girl watched the sinews in the woman’s arms as she kneaded what appeared to be a pie crust. Sensing the intrusion, the woman looked up, surprised initially, which then relaxed into a maternal smile. Eyes sparkling, her mouth opened in a welcoming greeting.

Suddenly breaking out of a dream, Enide shot up, awake. Her body was covered in a thin layer of sweat which, upon hitting the cold air, rapidly broke out into goosebumps. The girl ignored the sudden chill and hopped out of bed, headed towards the tiny closet that counted as a bathroom in her minuscule loft apartment. These dreams have been bothering her for the last week. What could they mean? she wondered to herself, turning on the cold water and rinsing her face to wake herself. Looking into the cracked vanity above the sink, she noted her coal black hair, about shoulder length, and her complexion, so pale that the cold water did not change her coloring at all. Her eyes, though, caught her attention. Instead of their standard darkness, they had become a golden amber color. Trying to ignore how uncomfortable the change made her, she turned away from the mirror and dried off with a dingy hand towel.
